Boulder Birding Big Day

The Boulder Birding Big Day invites participants to team up with local experts, grab binos and a bird book, and hit the trails. The three hour, friendly competition usually begins at 7:00 a.m. on a Saturday in May and concludes with a bird tally and door prizes at around 11:30 a.m. The Boulder Birding Big Day is part of ongoing citizen monitoring of indicator species at Boulder.

2006- Dave Grosshuesch headed up the winning team finding 63 species. (Thanks to Dave and Jim Lind for leading the two teams.) The group combined found a total of 69 species. One of the more beautiful sightings was a orange-crowned warbler that stayed still long enough to see through the spotting scope.
