Highlights from previous years
2007 - This year 84 guests gathered to celebrate the fabulous agate! We pressed fresh apple cider and ate caramel apples, learned about how agates form, made landforms in gravel with cookie sheets of ice (glaciers), and of course went on an agate hunt. Thanks for all our volunteers - Sarah Sinks (UMD), Shayna Sellars (Great Lakes Aquarium), Jim Miller (U of M), Christy Geissler, Sheri Prom, and Frank Maragi. |
2006 - 37 people joined us for the 2nd annual Agate Festival despite poor weather. Special thanks to Tiffany Smith, Katie Greene, Christy Geissler, and Sarah Sinks. |
2005 - 105 people enjoyed the 1st annual Agate Festival. It was fun filled event with people of all ages learning about the unique geology of Northern Minnesota at a variety of hands-on learning stations. |
