Environmental Education on 18,000 acres The Boulder Lake Environmental Education Program focuses on full-scale natural resource management and ecological research education. Located just 18 miles north of Duluth, Boulder Lake Management Area is an active “working forest” surrounding a hydroelectric power reservoir. Our outside classroom includes access to lakes, streams, ponds, wetlands, bogs, gravel pits, and forests. The diversity of plants and animals, cultural history, and ongoing stewardship of land and water make Boulder Lake Management Area an ideal setting for education.
